Augusta Canal Authority
The Augusta Canal Authority is governmental entity created in 1989 by an act of the Georgia General Assembly. The Authority consists of 12 appointees and an Executive Director. Each Augusta Commissioner appoints one member; the Richmond County legislative delegation appoint the remainder. In 1993 the Canal Authority adopted a Master Plan that has guided the development and preservation of the Canal as a natural, historic and economic resource. The Authority’s mission is to execute the master plan. Canal Authority offices are located at 1450 Greene Street, Suite 400; Augusta, GA 30901.
The Canal Authority meets on the second Thursday of each month, 5 p.m. in the Conference Room in the main building of Enterprise Mill. (Exception: April meeting subject to change due to Masters Tournament.)
