AUGUSTA, GA: AUGUSTA, GA: Sunday afternoon, May 7 it’s time to pedal, paddle and party as the Augusta Canal holds its 19th annual Canal Cruise and Cookout. Canoe the canal or bike the towpath, then finish the afternoon with an old-fashioned cook-out. Petersburg boat tours, games, door prizes and a tour of the Canal Interpretive Center at Enterprise Mill round out the day. Canoeing: Registration includes canoe, life jacket, paddle, and bus transportation from Enterprise Mill to the Headgates, launch and landing assistance and drawing for a recreational kayak from American Wilderness Outfitters Limited. Register with a canoeing partner. (Children must be aged seven or older and accompanied by a parent.) Bicycling: Ride you own bike on the canal towpath and trails from Enterprise Mill to the Headgate. Pause mid-ride at the refreshment station, then head back to Enterprise Mill for the rest of the festivities. Food and Features: From 3-5 p.m. enjoy an old-fashioned cookout and picnic on the grounds at Enterprise Mill along with live musical entertainment. Mini-tours on the popular Petersburg Tour Boat will run through the afternoon. Plus the award-winning Canal Interpretive Center will offer free admission to all registrants
